The Marine Coat One wax surfacing agent promotes a better surface cure for resins and gel coats. It is used for making a gel coat tack-free. Add styrene wax to non-waxed polyester resin and gel coat to prevent the tackiness associated with thin sections of polyesters.
This wax surfacing agent is a 5% paraffin dissolved in styrene. When adding paraffin to the resin, the wax will rise to the surface and protect the curing resin from the air’s inhibiting action. Once the resin is allowed to cure fully, you must sand off the wax before any additional applications. Any paraffin on the surface will prevent the adhesion of further coats.
The required amount of wax is 1 ounce per quart of gel coat or 4 ounces per gallon.
